iOS
8.3 was released
today, but if you’re looking to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, you’ll have to
wait, as details of an iOS 8.3 jailbreak are unknown at this point. iOS 8.3
includes a handful of new features, including more emoji that are racially
diverse and support for using CarPlay wirelessly, as well as the usual bug
fixes and performance improvements.
The
first thing we must note about the latest software update is that it
there is currently no jailbreak. Apple has left the probability of an
iOS 8.3 jailbreak looking very remote as well, thanks to the inclusion of 39
security bugs. That’s a whole heap of bugs to squish in one hit, by
anybody’s standards, and as jailbreak expert MuscleNerd points out via Twitter,
it’s almost as many as was served when Apple made the transition to iOS 8 from
very last editions of iOS 7.
Jailbreak iOS 8.3 -
TaiG’s Next Tool
Again,
we know TaiG is diligently working on a new iOS 8.3 jailbreak and it’s only a
matter of time before we’re bestowed with a new utility. What we would have
said last week for iOS 8.3’s public release (“it can be issued at any point in
time – today, tomorrow, next week, etc.”) also applies to the TaiG jailbreak
for 8.3 and its release.
With the likes of Pangu, PP and TaiG – as well as many of the
longer-serving suspects – all having picked away at Apple’s firmware of late,
the Cupertino has been kept on its toes from a security point of view. But
while fans of Cydia tweaks enjoyed the first few months following iOS 8’s
arrival, we’ve definitely hit something of a dry patch, and with iOS 8.3
looking as strong as any software release to date, the chances of it being
jailbroken seem slim-to-none.
