Cydia Substrate updated to support Pangu’s iOS 9 Jailbreak

Hot on the heels of the Pangu iOS 9 – 9.0.2 jailbreak, Jay Freeman aka saurik has released an update for the Cydia Substrate. It looks like saurik was aware of the iOS 9 jailbreak release, so he has been able to release it so soon. saurik says that Cydia Substrate 0.9.6000 includes significant changes to make it compatible with Pangu’s iOS 9 jailbreak. Cydia Substrate 0.9.6000 has made massive internal changes to be compatible with the latest jailbreak for iOS 9 from Pangu. This is great news as it would mean that we won’t have to wait for jailbreak tweaks to work on iOS 9. Cydia developers will still need to update their jailbreak tweaks to make them compatible with iOS 9 or later.

Cydia Substrate is used by many tweaks to hook into the functionality of iOS and other applications. Its quick update means that your favorite tweaks and applications will or will soon be compatible with iOS 9.

Cydia Substrate 0.9.6000 has made massive internal changes to be compatible with the latest jailbreak for iOS 9 from Pangu.

That brings about the strong possibility that saurik was aware of this jailbreak for some time now. He had at least enough time to adequately prepare a working Cydia Substrate update.

While saurik may have known, I think it’s safe to say that the iOS 9 jailbreak caught many of us by surprise, and that includes developers. With this in mind, it’ll probably be at least a week before many of your favorite apps and tweaks are updated for iOS 9.

Those having iPhones older than the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus, running Apple's new iOS 9 within their handsets, can download an iOS 9 jailbreak tweak called Forcy that brings 3D Touch to non-3D Touch enabled iPhones. Forcy is available for download for free from the Cydia store.
